Lazy Lazy Lazy....

Really need to spruce up my life....... I stay next to a running track for a month and never used it once, the pool is 3 mins away, but I have never swam in it once, my coursework is light comparatively, but I am falling behind >_< .... time to really buck up

Lunar eclipse

Anzac Parade at Randwick in Sydney Australia (Location)

Saw this news about a Lunar eclipse. Wondering if I will manage to see it tonight after classes :P
According to the article, the eclipse will start at 8.51pm and be a full eclipse by 11.22pm. Hope I will get to see it and maybe take a few snaps of it.

Only in Australia

Central Railway Station in Sydney Australia (Location)

Was taking the train to office in the morning during the crowded rush hour...... when the following announcement boomed over the loud speakers.
Customers please stand behind the yellow line.
A couple of seconds later:
Customers are reminded for you own safety, to please stay in the safety area off the area with the white marking .....
In another few seconds
Will the customers standing on the white area move back now! Trains hurt when they hit. Safety announcements are made for your own safety, do not ignore them...... I do not make them because I like the way my voice sounds ...... actually I do..... but that is irrelevant, STAND behind the yellow line.

Sydney vs Canberra (Part 1)

The Australian National University in Canberra Australia (Location)

Sydney and Canberra are 2 very different cities although the reside on the same continent .....

I had to make a trip to the immigration department the other day and I got a huge shock..... the IMMI office in Canberra is practically empty most of the time, the staff working there gives a relaxed and friendly feeling, sitting down at their desk to do the required paper work....... contrasting this to the Sydney office, its totally different.

There are long queues that reminded me of the polyclinics in Singapore. A staggered queuing system that will put the Starhub customer service center at PS in Singapore to shame. Of course there the crowd to match the system they have there .... an endless stream of people coming in and moving out. Information is dispatch effectively over the counter and a huge paper filing cabinet resides behind the counter thats well stocked with every single form needed. of course considering the volume of work, this difference to Canberra is expected.... but I can't help but to compare, especially other aspects like public transport etc.

Which city do I prefer to live in? For now, I would say Canberra wins hands down.

Traffic, Rain and APEC

North Sydney, Sydney Australia (Location)

Getting to office today was a killer. It has been raining since Saturday afternoon and still wet and drizzling this morning. Today also marks the 2nd day in the "Phase 1" of traffic and marine arrangement in the city of Sydney. Although I was vaguely aware of it, it was not till seeing the huge crowd and terminated service today that I went to look for more information.

According to the bulletin, it seems like things will only get worst up till 9th September........

Coogee Beach, Sydney

Coogee Beach at Sydney Australia (Location)

Had the chance to drop by Coogee beach which is located near UNSW during the first week I was in Sydney. Definitely a nice place with a beautiful sight. Much nicer than any of the beaches in Singapore.

Took a slow stroll to the cliff side in the picture above after some Domino pizza for lunch....took the following picture over look the sea there :)

Pancakes on the Rocks

The Rocks in Sydney Australia (Location)

When down to try out a nice eating place that was reccommended by a friend - Pancakes on the Rocks. Located (Google map) near the Sydney harbour there lots to see nearby, especially the Rocks Market.

There was a long queue; maybe because it was lunch time and a weekend. The service was average, but hey it not fine dinning so it the food that matters. :)

First up is the plain pancakes. 4 freshly flipped thick pancakes with maple syrup and Vanilla ice cream. Simple yet delicious at a reasonal price of $8.95 for a long stack.

Next is something a little more flashy - The Ultimate
Crepes filled with cream cheese and sultanas, served with raspberry coulis and vanilla ice cream......... Pancakes’ answer to mum’s cheesecake!
Nice but a little too heavy for my liking. At $12.95 its a bit pricy but definitely worth a try.

Also tried a slab of their pork ribs, but it was quickly consumed before I had a chance to take any photos..... Nicely cooked, but I would say some other form of marinade beside BBQ sauce would have been nicer as they were rather salty.
